School Games

Through the national legacy programme of the School Games we are motivating, enthusing and inspiring young people from across Herefordshire and Worcestershire, to increase participation and take part in more competitive school sport.

Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire are delighted to announce Free Radio as their official Radio Partner for the Herefordshire and Worcestershire School Games 2018!

The levels of the School Games:

Level 1 - Intra-school competition

Level 1 provides the opportunity for all young people across Herefordshire and Worcestershire to access sport within their schools. Whilst the emphasis is on competition, we encourage schools to include participation opportunities so that all young people have the option to take part in school sport.

Level 2 - Inter-school competition

Level 2 is organised and delivered by each School Games Organiser within their districts. Individuals and teams compete against other schools at a district level in order to qualify for level 3.

Level 3 - County competition

We are responsible for the level 3 games which take place at county level. Young people aged primary, secondary, independent and special schools - both able bodied and disabled - have the opportunity to compete in large scale multi-sport events and also take part in new participation events. The events are supported by young leaders from schools, colleges and university. We place a strong emphasis on cultural events and values of the School Games (honesty, respect, team work, self belief, passion, determination).

Herefordshire and Worcestershire each have their own winter and summer festivals, alongside standalone events in some sports.
