Business Games hailed as a success!

Local businesses made a splash last Tuesday (11th September) at the inaugural Herefordshire and Worcestershire Business Games.

Hosted by the Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire, the Games gave local businesses the perfect opportunity to get active outdoors, rounding off the organisation's summer physical activity campaign.

13 teams keenly contested the outdoor challenges in a bid to be crowned Herefordshire and Worcestershire Business Games champions. Archery arrows were drawn, lifejackets fastened and cheers of support echoed around the area.

Teams navigated their way around the University of Worcester Lakeside Campus in an orienteering challenge, before testing their logic, team work and communication skills with raft building, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding.

It was a fantastic evening and pitted businesses including Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, Primary School Teachers, Hallmark Hulme, Clearview Systems, West Midlands Safari Park and Sports Partnership against each other in a number of different team-building challenges.

Emma Gardner, Project Manager for Adult Participation at the Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire said, "With 60% of our waking hours spent at work, it is vital for organisations to harness the potential of sport and physical activity. With recent research suggesting a link between the great outdoors and positive mental health, the Business Games were a perfect opportunity to reap the benefits that being active can bring."

"The Business Games offered a unique opportunity for local organisations to get active outdoors as well as networking with other businesses. We were delighted to welcome 13 teams to our event, who displayed fantastic sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the evening, although the Games were still rich in competition!"

After an evening of healthy competition, the Worcester Primary School Teachers were crowned Business Games champions, with Hallmark Hulme runners up. Congratulations to all of the teams that took part on the evening. The Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire extends its thanks to staff at Lakeside campus who helped to make the event a roaring success.
