The Sports Partnership Herefordshire & Worcestershire (SPHW) has launched a year-long campaign designed to get workplaces in the two counties more active. Dubbed the 'Workplace Challenge' the campaign involves local businesses competing against one another in various sporting activities including footgolf, wheelchair basketball and rounders.
Project Manager Emma Gardner, said, 'We know that there is a positive connection between physical activity and good physical and mental health. The latest research shows that 131 million working days are lost per year through sickness which is an average of 4.4 days per person. In addition, a staggering 53% of long term absence is caused by stress.'
'Not only can workplace wellness programmes reduce absenteeism by 41% but they can also improve the relationship between staff and their employers, boost the external image of an organisation and help to achieve core business aims.'
The SPHW has eight workplace events running from April to October with the first event being a footgolf challenge in Hereford on 25th April. To book your team click here.
Emma continued, 'The events are extremely fun and friendly and are designed for all levels of fitness. There are even prizes for the winners!'
