Well done to our 2016-17 Physical Activity and Health Enhancing Initiatives award winners, Heronswood Primary School.
Through the 'Fresh Start' initiative pupils were educated on the importance of a healthy lifestyle, children were able to identify healthy foods that would help to give them a better start to the day. 90 per cent of pupils completed the full course, with increasing knowledge and confidence.
Birchensale Middle School were successful in winning the 2016-17 Increased Participation in Competitive Sport award.
Recognising a number of talented individuals in PE, teachers and the senior team identified a need for an increase in the provision of activities. Through the introduction of indoor rowing, indoor athletics and dance, participation and competition has flourished and Birchensale has progressed through the School Games Mark.
Claiming this year's Whole School Improvement award was Burlish Park Primary School.
The Change 4 Life club at Burlish Park Primary School was developed to improve pupil's attendance, behaviour and readiness for learning, while also improving the health and wellbeing of students. Impacting around 170 children, the project has led to around 60% of pupils participating in competitions or festivals.
